November 21, 2024 – The North of Superior Healthcare Group (NOSH) is reporting that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Wilson Memorial General Hospital Continuing Complex Care (CCC) wing as of November 20, 2024.
A COVID-19 outbreak is declared in a hospital setting when two confirmed positive cases are connected. The individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 are currently in self-isolation.
NOSH update
To help contain any further spread of the virus, the Wilson Memorial General Hospital will be limiting CCC visitors to 2 Essential Care Partners per patient/resident until further notice. An Essential Care Partner is defined as someone who provides physical, psychological and/or emotional support, that is deemed important to the patient's care by the care team in collaboration with the patient.
NOSH will also be implementing outbreak management measures, including increased infection prevention and control practices and surveillance testing for affected individuals.
All patients, along with NOSH staff who work at Wilson Memorial General Hospital, will be closely monitored for symptoms.
NOSH will be working closely with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to manage the outbreak and to protect their patients and staff.
