Media Release: Program Disruptions at WMGH

December 14, 2021 – Nursing shortages have become a reality across the Province and country in the recent months and have been particularly notable in rural, northern areas. Although, we have foreseen this issue and have dedicated staff resources to focus on recruitment and retention of nurses, NOSH is now too facing shortfalls of RNs, RPNs and PSWs.

To ensure the critical emergency and inpatient services over the winter months, the Wilson Memorial General Hospital site of NOSH are expecting some interruptions to our regular, non-emergent services including our Endoscopy, Cataract Surgery, Telehealth, and Chemotherapy programs. Any cancellations or schedule changes for these programs, will be communicated to the impacted patients by their respective program director in timely manner.

Over the past 21 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, our healthcare providers have worked non-stop to ensure the continuation of safe, high quality care in our communities.  Our CEO, Adam Brown and Chief of Staff Sayali Tadwalkar ask for your patience and understanding as we take measures to support the sustainability of these healthcare resources.
